Face Claim: Trafalgar D. Water Law // One Piece
APPEARANCE
"A crow, a raven, a buzzard, all of them will work for him until you realize that he's a hawk with black wings, ready to claw your eyes out."
Flynn is a deceptively tall and well-maintained man. Primarily, his fashion choice seems to sporadically jump from extremely well dressed to lethargic ensembles. However, if the roulette of Flynn’s style skewed anywhere, it would rest on dark and flowy. Wearing darker tones to reflect his strangely gloomy personality, Flynn likes to show off his array of tattoos (or markings, to some) and glimpses of his toned physique. A common trait is that he always wears dress shoes or leather boots--he doesn’t owe a pair of sneakers, he says. Also, he’s always wearing a piece of outerwear that can blow in the wind. He attributes that part to that he always wanted to look like he was some envoy of misfortune or that he was out of some action movie.
Furthermore, he wears an array of different jewelry. He has five bracelets around his left arm that give him a recognizable jingle every time he walks. On the right arm is a larger wrist band. Around his neck is an elaborate coin fashioned with some sort of demonic-looking engraving. The coin rests between his collarbones. His ears are pierced.
Physically, Flynn stands at 6’3” but only sizes up when he’s in a more serious mood. Looking as benign as possible, Flynn tends not to flex his physique, except in the rare glimpses. However, due to years of training, his body is toned. In addition, there are a few notable scars on his body. There’s one over his heart that is the most notable, along with one on his spine. His eyes are yellow and vary in intensity. At some points, he looks tired, due to the shadows under his eyes. Other times, they seem to take on the semblance of a hawk glaring down its prey. His black hair is usually somewhat untamed but he states that it has a mind of its own.
PERSONALITY
“People are so obsessed with finding out what’s real. The answer is there for them. Everything has been real since the moment that we were conceived. It’s the veil that masks everything that is the problem.”
Joyfully Detached: A self-proclaimed practitioner of “multi-strained nihilism”, Flynn displays a clear detachment and disdain for most common things. He is never as plain as to reject purpose as a common nihilist would but he doesn’t bother to invest too much into things around him. It’s safe to say that Flynn is a confusing and obtuse person, seemingly never settling on one side of a coin. For instance, he appears to be fully content with being approachable but constantly expresses an uncanny disliking to most people around him. He attributes it to his world view. If the world is going to end one day by someone’s hand, then why exactly play to everyone’s sensibilities? Thus getting to know the real Flynn is something extraordinarily hard, despite the ease that he allows people to try. It may stem from the SPD that festered inside of him.
“I’m a very lonely person out of habit. People say that the scum of the earth is jealous of me. I would agree but I refuse to look in the mirror that hard. I’m a terrible person, and I’m okay with that.”
All-Natural People Repellent: All of his quirks tend to make him untrustworthy, which he agrees with but he states that he’s always honest. Further driving the point that he’s a walking representation of antagonism, he’s cheerfully derisive of others. He makes sure to set thorns in people’s sides, only to push them further in when he finds it apt to do so. Despite that, he tries not to push himself as someone who enjoys being heinous. Instead, it’s a lack of care and awareness that seems to produce this trait of his.
“I would keep my distance if I were you. They say that my personality is contagious.”
Better To Suffer Alone: Though this is typically a defense mechanism for him. Due to his origins, Flynn tries his best to keep people away from him entirely, but he resolves to let some people stay with arm’s length of him. Originally, it was a way to make sure people don’t get wrapped in the misery of his life but as he grew older, it became second nature for Flynn. It may be the only source of compassion in Flynn left but of course, he has to display it as horrendously as possible.
“I’m Flynn Valentine and I’m in love with who I am. I can do anything but I just choose not to.”
Almighty Confidence: The most prevailing part about Flynn is his undying confidence. No matter how bleak his reality may be, Flynn will always stand forward and live life the way he sees fit. He doesn’t crumple to the ideals of others or any kind of reconfiguration. At the end of eternity, Flynn will be Flynn, whether you like it or not.
Morally Unkempt: As perhaps a byproduct of both his upbringing and his world view, Flynn doesn’t seem to care about morality. He’s quick to forgive atrocities done to him as well as what he may do to others. As such, he doesn’t seem to care about wanton destruction, the ruination of human life, or a supposed desire of vengeance that accents the outer regions of his mind.
Help The World By Ending It: Finally, Flynn displays his desire to save people by, one day, ending the world as a whole. He devotes himself to the idea of being a harbinger, but not out of any sadistic wants. Rather, he believes that everything will come to an end, so he will play his part and see what peace he can create by doing so.
HISTORY
“I was born to nothing, lived with nothing, and was meant to die as nothing.”
It is openly known that Flynn’s name isn’t his actual name. It’s one that he came up with during his youth. It became a mask to wear as he suffered throughout his life. His father left his mother behind, not wishing to try to be a father at the time of his youth. The story was meant to be the struggle of a single mother, but alas, she left him behind as well. The boy would be sent into an orphanage that would make a cog in the system. Growing older, the boy would leave to try to brave the world on his own. Sadly for him, he didn’t understand the ramifications of his actions nor the unfortunate fate that was within him.
Afflicted with tuberculous and not knowing what to do, the boy found himself getting close to death’s door. In an alleyway, unseen by the world, a boy was meant to die. As he was about to pass on, he felt a presence that kept him there for just a moment longer. It was on that day that he would become Flynn Valentine.
Flynn would join the Academy with a new outlook on life. Though he was thankful towards his survival, he was equally frustrated with the way that the world functioned. As such, a strange malevolence sprouted within him. The world itself was meant to die one day, he knew. The first year was one where he focused on enriching himself in everything he could--he was a poor boy with no knowledge. So he spent two years doing just that, learning as much as he could. As he did, he began to fester the seed in his mind until he reached a conclusion for himself.
“Sickness is everlasting until you pull the plug permanently.”

- He believes that nothing in the world matters for him, but he enjoys that other people strive so hard to make it matter.
- It’s very hard to know if Flynn is displaying a false personality, lying, or taking anything seriously.
- Flynn dislikes people but also spouts out that he was cursed to be an extrovert.

- Flynn purposely makes sure that people don’t like him for some reason but he doesn’t chase after the desire.
- One shouldn’t trust Flynn but he never tells a lie. It’s up to the listener to decide at the end of the day if they truly listen to what Flynn has to say.
- He’s not an active asshole--he was handcrafted by the world to be one.

- The front door to the house may be open but Flynn’s home is never open for exploration.
- Because he doesn’t want people to try to get trapped in him.
