APPEARANCE
Lucas is an almost unhealthly skinny individual with years of hospital visits and illnesses having made him unable to really build up muscle mass. A large percent of his body is also covered in scars and any of these that aren’t covered by his normal clothing he covers up with bandages. When not in school he’ll usual just wear any casual clothing such as a t-shirt and jeans he can find in his closet though he always has a scarf wrapped around his neck which he pulls up to cover his mouth and nose when near something that could get him sick. The most eye catching thing about Lucas though is probably the red eye drawn on the center of his forehead and the eyelike designs in his hair create from the contract of his black hair and white dye.
PERSONALITY
Luke is a very loving, friendly individual though he can be pretty awkward at time cause he is very blunt when it comes to sharing his feelings. He likes to try to help people as much as he can to the point where he would even risk his own safety and health if he meant he could help someone else. At the same time he is also a total germaphobe, though he has a really good reason for it, and when left with free time he can be found constantly cleaning things around his dorm until it meets his standards. He is also a very intelligent individual due to the fact that he passed most of the time when he was bedridden with some illness reading and looking up all kinds of information from dozens of different subjects.
HISTORY
Lucas had always been fated for illness. It didn’t matter what doctors he went to or what medicine he took since the moment he was conceived his body simple wasn’t designed to hold up against disease. A simple genetic screening had proven this to his parents before he had even been born revealing an anomally in his X chromosome which prevents him from developing mature B cells. Without B cells his body would be unable to create any antibodies.
As the doctors expected Lucas was fine for the first few months of his life since his body was surviving off the antibodies his mother had shared with him. After that time period, however, illness quickly began to set in. Simple colds that another child could simple shake off were more severe and lasted longer when they infected Lucas. Getting IV infusions every 3-4 weeks ensured that he could live as normal a life as possible without having to worry about pathogens too much but he still had a number of incidents of severe illness here and there.
Beside for the IVs and having to try to avoid infection as much as possible Lucas lived a relatively normal life. He went to school(though he had to be extra careful when other students got sick), hung out with his friends, enjoyed parties, etc. He was happy with how things were and the future seemed pretty bright despite all his biological hardship. Yet all it took was a simple cut to send him into a whole new world of pain.
He had gone out swimming in a nearby lake with a group of friends. While they were swimming around he cut his side on something that had been hidden under the murky water. It was a minor cut, nothing that should’ve really caused any concern. When they got out of the water he checked it out and even cleaned it off using some rubbing alcohol but by then the damage had already been done. A few days after he had gotten the caught he had developed a severe fever and the area around the cut had swelled and turned bright red. His parents quickly rushed him to the hospital.
His life had turned completely upside down from that point onwards as it turned into a fight for his life. The bacteria that had gotten into his wound had begun eating away at his flesh while his disadvantage immune system and the doctors tried to fight it. Sepsis, necrotic scars across his body, fatique, fever, skin discoloration, and so much pain. At various points it didn’t even seem as if he was going to make it. He was going to die on a hospital bed in agonizing pain. Until eventually the infection began to die off though by that point Lucas’ body was already covered in a large number of scars where the bacteria had begun to chew away at his skin and muscles.
It was a little while after this that Lucas began to run into that person. They always appeared when no one else was around and sometimes even seemed to appear out of thin air. At first Lucas had assumed they were a part of the hospital staff but after asking around no one seemed staff, which also ruled out the possibility that they were another patient. So he continued to ask around and before long people began to get concerned that he had start hallucinating and given his susceptibility to all kinds of disease he was quickly tested for all kinds of potential neurological disorders though nothing was found. It was a little while later that an invitation to a private school designed to accommodate sick students arrived at their door. While his parents were hesitate at first the promise of 24/7 care, top tier staff, and greater potential to get involve in clinical trials was too good an opportunity to pass up.
