Face Claim: Sandalphon // Granblue Fantasy
APPEARANCE
Kyou is 5'6" tall and weighs 137 pounds or so. His hair is darker brown, with dark reddish tips, and kind of frames his face. His eyes are the color of freshly spilled blood. His skin is a light tan. He wears clothing that he finds comfortable, which is usually a tight shirt and tighter pair of pants. He always is wearing darker colored clothes and maybe a necklace and wristbands. He prefers an almost emo-kid kind of look, with band tees and chains. He won't dress up unless he's forced to, but no one really forces Kyou to really do anything.
PERSONALITY
Kyou is a snarky, rude, gigantic pain in the ass. He redefines what it means to be brutally honest, not caring whether or not he hurts your feelings, and possibly even mocking you for having feelings in the first place. Kyou lingers somewhere between sociopath and psychopath. Either way, he isn't the type of person to exhibit any kind of emotions, except possibly rage, amusement, and blood lust. Because of his lack of emotions, he seems to understand them in a way that most people can't. He notices details about the way people act when they feel certain ways. He is capable of, and rather good at, faking emotions. He can appear happy, sad, disappointed (although that one might be real). He can appear basically normal. He is also usually rather sarcastic, and quite full of himself. He takes pride in being better than everyone else. Kyou is very observant of pretty much everything around him, not that he really cares about any of it.
HISTORY
Kyou was born a twin to a brother. Their mother died during childbirth, due to complications when birthing Kyou, which lead to incredible complications when delivering the second child. Their father never got over it, and became an alcoholic and an addict. The children were taken from him by the age of five. The younger of the twins doesn't remember his past, but Kyou does.
They were placed into a home fairly quickly. The younger of the twins was accepted quite easily, as he was gentle and scared and very eager to please, but Kyou was nothing but a trouble maker. He often got into fights with other kids at school, though most of the time it was to protect his brother. As they grew older, he made sure that his brother was always taken care of, that his homework was always done, that his clothes were always clean, and that he was always well fed, even if that meant that he wasn't.
Around the time he turned fourteen, there was more to protecting his younger brother than just doing his homework and fighting off bullies. It was by chance that he began to notice a change in his brother's behavior. The other boy had become more shy and timid than usual, as well as would have rather violent and aggressive outbursts that just weren't like him. He began to shut himself in and become anxious about everything. His entire personality seemed to change and he went more and more into a hole, even to the point of not trusting Kyou anymore. The more he tried to get answers, the less he actually achieved.
And then it stopped. His twin had committed suicide while Kyou had been at school. The whole day he had regretted going, and was trying to find ways to get home, as he had been told that his brother had stayed home sick. He was the one that found the body as he had gone searching for his brother when he couldn't find him.
His foster parents seemed absolutely destroyed by the death of the good twin. Kyou closed himself off and secluded himself as much as possible. His foster mother forced him into therapy, but it didn't help. And then one day, he learned what he had really wanted to know. He found out what had been going on, what had driven his brother to suicide.
It was only a few weeks after the death of his brother when his foster father stumbled into his room drunk as hell. Of course, Kyou was nowhere near the timid little child his brother had been, and defended himself quite well, taking a lamp from the bedside table and smashing it into the man's head. Over and over and over again. His hands were soaked in blood and shaking when his foster mother snapped him out of it with her screams.
He was taken into custody, and he chose to remain silent at first, the shock of what had happened being more than anything. They took him to the hospital, noticing his clothes were torn and he showed signs of a struggle. It was there that he told them what had happened, that it was self-defense. The police told them that they knew, that they were waiting for more conclusive evidence before they could have arrested him, but now that he was dead, it was just more paperwork, but it was the end of the case.
That night, once everyone had left, he made his way into the bathroom in the hospital room, the one place he had privacy. He had stolen a scalpel on his way into the hospital and stood there in front of the mirror. He swore that he was going to do it, placing the blade against his neck, but then there was a knock. He hid the blade and opened the door to find a little girl standing there. She told him that he didn't want to do that, and that she could see that he just needed a purpose in life. She told him that he could see his brother again, if only he would go with her. So he did.
That was a year ago, and he is still at the school, training to become the new Death.
