The retired Harbinger of War stood at the front of his classroom before the blackboard with a piece of chalk poised between his fingers. The chalk clacked against the board as he wrote down the day's lesson - the history of the harbingers, or rather the four horsemen as normal people called them. After he was finished writing on the board he placed the chalk down in the long dish that sat right below it, casually wiping his fingers off on his pants to get rid of the chalk dust on his fingers. He turned and walked over to his desk, standing behind it as he placed a hand down on it with the tips of his fingers resting against the surface of the wood.
His eyes scanned the open book that laid on the desk, silent as students filed into his classroom. He allowed them to chatter amongst themselves until the bell rang, to which he looked up and grabbed the book, closing it before he let it slam down onto his desk. "Now that I have your attention... Sit down and be silent unless called upon." He spoke up in a firm voice, his piercing eyes scanning his students. "Any caught trying to cheat or gossip during my class will receive punishment for doing so, perhaps even a failing grade. My job here is to help each and every one of you pass my class, and I can only do so if you all don't screw around." He took a step back and reached for an empty, plastic bin that rested by his chair, holding it up for the students to see. "Now, I will walk by and you will deposit any forms of electronic communication devices into this bin. You will be able to retrieve your lovely little companions after class is over. However, should I catch you on your phones after I have made my passing I will confiscate your phones and send them straight to the Headmasters along with a note of detention for those breaking this simple rule of mine."
He didn't bother to listen to any noises of complaint as he moved forward, walking up and down the aisles of desks as he held out the bin to have the phones be deposited into. It took a couple of minutes before he finished and walked back over to his desk, setting it down on his desk. "Now, you may all call me Professor Kolesov or Mister K if you somehow have trouble pronouncing my last name. This is just one of the stepping stones towards your roles as potential Harbingers." He spoke in a loud, clear voice as he turned to face the board a little. "Throughout history humans have told tales of the coming of the end - the apocalypse and those that would bring it. The four horsemen. Now tell me, who can name them?" He spoke up once more, turning his head to look towards his students to wait for hands to be raised before he'd pick one. It was an easy question, and one he put out on purpose.
"Precisely as you've stated. War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death. The four groupings here that all of you are a part of and what you might become. However, there are some things that normal humans do not know about us." He spoke up after a student had answered his question, soon picking up the piece of chalk and drawing four circles with two circles poised above the four. Inside the four circles he wrote a Harbinger in each one before writing down Peace and Chaos in the upper two. "There are four head Harbingers that are different from the others. These four are the elite of Harbingers and they report directly to their respective masters. Two to Peace and two to Chaos. These masters of theirs are our very own headmasters here at the school." Viktor continued on as he stepped aside, creating lines that lead each Harbinger to their respective master.
"As you can see here, War and Famine report to Chaos and Pestilence and Death to Peace. However, Death is a tricky sort for they are actually shared by the two masters. Death is the only Harbinger to ever report to both Peace and Chaos. Now, can anyone think of any reason as to why they report to two masters instead of one?" He informed the class, ending on a question as he once again scanned his eyes over his current students for any potential guesses that could come forth once called upon.
