Face Claim: TOUKEN RANBU // Mikazuki Munechika
APPEARANCE
Kassian stands at six feet and weighs approximately 155 lbs with a pale skin tone, he also has a slender but athletic build. His hair falls just to his chin on the left side of his face, the color a near black that almost looks purple or blue in the light. His eyes are a striking blue, mostly appearing cold and guarded but occasionally gaining a softer expression when around those he trusts. He can be seen wearing comfortable-looking clothes that are no doubt expensive. He will occasionally be seen in a suit for more formal affairs, or that of meetings perhaps. On the palms of his hands there appears to be kanji and other words carved, or burned, into his skin. He doesn't allow anyone a close enough look at his hands nor easily lets them touch his hands.
PERSONALITY
Kassian is a man who can be rather manipulative and cold at times, though he does appear more docile and gentle most of the time. One would think he would be of the Peace alignment, however he is very much of the Chaos alignment. His temper is rather short and he is a merciless man who will severely punish those who have done wrong either just in general or towards himself. He must have a way to keep himself 'anchored' to avoid going into fits of rage that he sometimes cannot control. He can, if pushed this far, blackout and inflict enormous damage on anyone and everything around him; he mostly snaps out of it when he has created a bloodbath or someone has managed to snap him out of it themself.
Despite his short temper he does have a soft spot for children, often posing himself as a father-figure to any he has an interest in. He often feels great guilt should he blackout and end up hurting someone he has grown to care about, most of the time panicking and breaking down after his chaotic fit.
HISTORY
Kassian comes from a rather large family, being one of the youngest of his siblings. Growing up was mostly normal, however he was often picked on due to being weaker than his other siblings. He grew up to be rather distrustful and manipulative in order to survive his somewhat chaotic upbringing. He did his best to keep his head low but over time his temper grew shorter and shorter until he just couldn't hold back all of his anger any longer from being picked on so much. He blacked out and lashed out at everyone around him, only snapping out of it when three grown adults pulled him back from whichever kid he was beating on during his blackout. He was eventually separated from the other kids and, unfortunately perhaps for Kassian, sent to go live with a foster family.
He figured that was fine for the most part now that he was away from his own family, but things didn't stay...fine for long. He got into more fights and more blackouts plagued him. He knew his foster parents were debating on sending him to a psych doctor or even to give him up since they were starting to be unable to handle his fits of rage. However, they did not have to dwell over such a decision for long. During the middle of the night while Kassian was sitting out in the backyard, due to being unable to sleep, when he was approached by a stranger. Naturally, this did not bode well for the teen as he tensed up and warily kept his eyes trained on this stranger. Just where did this person come from in the first place?
The stranger had told him about how he could come to a place that was far better than his foster home, a place where he could become who he was meant to truly be. It all sounded like a load of bullshit to the teen though and he quickly rejected the offer, heading back inside much to the stranger's surprise. His visitations with the person had become more and more frequent, however, and over time the person eventually gained his trust enough to finally accept. He left his foster home without much of a word and went with the person who had sought him out to the school they spoke of so much.
It took quite some time for him to wrap his mind around everything that he saw at the school and what it was meant for; what it meant for him. His path was to become a harbinger of War, and all he had to do was accept that fact and role. That...was much easier said than done. He struggled for quite a few years over what exactly it was he was meant to do, but somehow he managed. Somehow. He had made a few friends over the years, but hadn't really been all that close to them either. He still couldn't find it in himself to trust others.
About his third year at the school he was given a black ring with a red ruby in it, something he still wears to this day, and almost couldn't believe how far he had come since stepping foot in the school. Though what was more special about that year was someone who had managed to get close to him, closer than any other person had been able to. He had grown a soft spot for this person, even to the point of developing feelings for this person. That year was relatively smooth for him, especially when he had his closest person by his side helping him and providing companionship. However, towards the end of the third year he dared to confess his feelings which...backfired.
He had lost his closest friend and was all alone. He underwent a few panic attacks for a few days after that, though gradually grew more cold as he built walls around himself once more. At first he just tried to keep his distance and focus on his studies and everything else he needed to do, but eventually he had begun to spread rumors about his former friend, having been tired and angry that he was not hurting. Slowly he grew more and more manipulative, aiming to have things sway in his favor despite the pain his manipulations caused. His fourth year came and towards the middle of it he did something he did not regret at the time.
It was past hours, something he was sure he would get in trouble for, but he had heard students talking about how his former friend was going to try and sneak into the stables to try and form a bond with a prospective mount before he was even ready. Now this was something that was very highly against the rules, but he had to go see. He made his way to the stables and to where the bonding room was, listening for any staff member that might have been alerted of the rule breaking. However, all he heard at that moment was his former friend. So the rumors he had heard were true, but he still was far from ready. So he did what he thought he needed to do in that moment, he made his presence known and verbally abused him, made him doubt himself even more before leaving without looking back.
The next day was when the staff found the body, and Kassian felt...nothing. He felt nothing for a month or two after the incident before it finally all came rushing to him. He broke down and he felt like an utter monster, something he also never really got over as he got older. When it was finally time for his own trial to be faced, it was a terrible experience for him and one he has nightmares about occasionally. He could still remember when he was locked in that room, an image of himself that had everything he hated most about himself. The struggle was surreal, fighting with himself over what was right or wrong and having to cope with everything that had happened in his life by himself.
He eventually emerged, not really knowing how much time had passed, but he had succeeded in the trial somehow. Then came the time for his mount, something that also took time to accomplish. Yet his path was almost completed, all it took was this final stage and he could fulfill his role completely. All he could think of when he came face to face with his own mount was...a monster. It was just a shadowy being with fire for eyes making guttural noises, but it was his and he accepted that.
After some time the former War had decided to retire and asked him to take their place, to which he agreed to. It was why he had gone to the school, no? His path was set and now was the time to finally fulfill everything that was to be asked of him.
