APPEARANCE
Finnegan stands at 5'8" and weighs approximately 140 lbs with a slender, athletic build. He has pale skin and, to go along with it, white hair with blue eyes. No, he's not an albino, his hair is just simply bleached and dyed that color. He is often seen wearing the school's uniform while on campus and a white shirt with dark pants if he is not. His hair is mostly slicked back in a neat manner, occasionally getting unruly and not wanting to cooperate - not that the boy is bothered by it anyhow. He walks with a limp due to an incident before his arrival at Shadowhaven.
PERSONALITY
Finnegan is a friendly and charismatic individual. He is easy to get along with and just wants to be liked by his peers. He enjoys joking around with friends and helping out his teachers with the smallest of things, such as running errands for them. Due to having attended a military academy prior to Shadowhaven, he is a bit strict on getting his schoolwork done, so this tries to put that above anything else he wants to do - which can sometimes include eating. He can come off as annoying or obnoxious at times, most of which is unintentional on his part. Often times he does his best to help tutor students in lower years than him or those who are just struggling to the best of his ability, especially if he doesn't really have anything else to do.
Though everyone does have bad days, and when Finnegan isn't his usual self he can be far more quiet than usual. He's a bit more unresponsive and seems more zoned out, making it easy to do poorly in class or for others to just rub him the wrong way. He gets more agitated easily as well, occasionally snapping at others over the smallest thing. However, once he's cooled his head he instantly regrets snapping at those he deems as friends and goes to apologize the best he can; saying things like he didn't mean to say those words or that he was just having a bad day and to try and forgive him.
HISTORY
Finnegan O'Connor was born and raised a majority of his life in a small town in Ireland by his two elder brothers. His parents were removed from his life at about four years old, his eldest brother being eighteen at the time had decided that their living arrangements were not suitable for the young boy and his other brother who was fourteen at the time. Unknown to Finnegan, for his brothers had not talked about their parents to him, his parents were drug addicts and would do anything to get their next high.
His parents had run out of things to give to their dealers for their next high, so their next item to give away would be their youngest son since the drug dealer had a thing for younger boys. However, before any of that could happen, and it wasn't like his parents had ever kept such talk a secret, his older brother, Nicolás, had gathered his brothers in the dead of the night after stealing what he could from their parents. With only the clothes on their backs, a stuffed bear for Finnegan, the three brothers had traveled from town to town while their eldest brother sought for work to keep them together.
Skipping forward a few years, Finnegan lived in a small home with his two brothers, his second oldest brother, Cahir, being the one to fight first and question later. Often times, it was Cahir who came to his aid when things seemed to be looking rough for the young boy, Nicolás being the more parental figure gave him the comfort and security he needed. Though love he received from them both they didn't have much money, but their eldest brother held down two steady jobs and Cahir had managed to get himself a job as well, providing more income to their little family.
As Finnegan grew older, Cahir and Nicolás taught him a few skills on defending himself in case either of them were not around to help protect him. They had even gotten him a rifle for when they would take little vacations to go hunting when it was in season, something that he had looked forward to for a while. Though after some time his eldest brother had decided it might be best to send him to military school shortly after he had completed a few years of public school, thinking it could help him hone his own life skills and so that they could focus more on work to provide an income.
Finnegan was against leaving to go to a military academy where he would have to live on campus, but his brothers had assured him he would be fine. Things had seemed fine and were going smoothly as he seemed to be getting along well with the other students. He wasn't the most popular boy there but he was liked enough for others to ask for help with some schoolwork or other tasks that were given to them. Perhaps it was because he was very willing to help out despite people potentially taking advantage of him. However, a prank being played on him and a few other classmates by some other boys had taken a wrong turn. Now, Finnegan was a very likable person in this school and wasn't easily scared, so these students had done their best to get a scare out of him on a bet that had been made. It was all merely fun and games. Nothing more.
They hadn't meant to hurt him, hadn't meant for him to stop breathing for almost a minute. It was almost curfew when he was walking from the study hall to his dorm for the night, distracted and not paying attention to his surroundings as he thought about a call he had received from his brothers earlier that day. He missed them, there was no doubt about that, but he wasn't sure how he could help his only family more. A couple of boys that tried to pull pranks on him weekly were behind him, their next shenanigan ready to be put into play. He was on the third floor, his steps echoing as well as the other boys he should have heard. They only meant to throw a cloth bag over his head and push him around between themselves, but they miscalculated a push and sent him down some stairs.
He broke his leg, arm, and gained a concussion from that fall. Luckily enough for him a teacher had stayed late grading some papers when that happened, the boys had panicked and a couple had fled though one had went calling for a teacher. He was taken away to a hospital to treat his injuries and the boys responsible were punished accordingly. However, this did take a toll for his own family due to the price of treatment he had to receive. They didn't make that much money, just enough to survive really. His brothers took the initiative to work harder, his eldest brother over working himself so he could provide more for his siblings.
He was taken home to recover for the time being, his siblings unable to really pay his tuition for the school he went to on top of the medical bills they received. Finnegan did his best to help out but there wasn't much for him to do being unable to really walk or use his arm. He was just...a burden for the most part. His siblings never told him so but he thought it. However, about a month into his recovery his eldest brother didn't come home which was rather worrying. He was just...gone. Cahir did his best to try and figure out what happened to their older brother but he got no answers. It fell to Cahir to continue providing an income to the best of his ability, but he struggled with his hot-headed nature when interacting with idiotic people in his eyes.
It was just after Finnegan was able to get his casts off when Cahir, too, went missing. No note, no call...nothing. Finnegan, at first, figured it was just Cahir staying late for work. Two days passed before he could contact the police, to which they went out to investigate the disappearance of his brother. Hours passed and still they found nothing. Finnegan couldn't understand what had happened for both of his brothers to just...just be gone like that. He didn't know if they were still alive or if they were dead, though the authorities certainly thought the latter by this point.
Finnegan was taken into custody since he was underaged at the time and couldn't live on his own, despite the fact that he was more than capable of doing so. He had no closure on what happened to his brothers, his only family members. It kept him awake that night, unable to sleep as he mourned once more for his brothers. It was then that a being appeared before him atop a...strange creature he couldn't possibly imagine. The being spoke of a school far from this place he resided at, a place where he could...potentially find closure. Or not. He had nothing to lose at this point and perhaps he could help others should he go down this path that was presented before him.
He was uncertain at first but...he did have nothing to lose. He agreed and off they went to this school and he was enrolled to be a second year there under the group Death. Death...it was almost surreal to even wrap his mind around the fact that the harbinger of Death had paid him a visit and not taken his life. It took time to get used to his surroundings and get through the school year, but he managed and he grew to love the place. It was his home now, and he has just entered his third year at the school. He still wonders what happened to his brothers, but he can only hope that what he can do for the time being can be good in the long run. Perhaps even lead him to closure.
